Location Change for 4th of July Flamingle

The old saying goes something like this
"When a door closes a window opens"
.

This is certainly the case for the 4th of July Flamingle.
We were notified that the Texan RV Park would not be hosting rally groups in the future.

We were about to cancel the Flamingle when Sandy recalled an email
she got about 6 months back and sent it to me.
I got in touch with the park and we are now booked for the
Salmon Lake RV Campground in Grapeland, TX for 1 - 5 July.
You may come as early as you want and stay as late as you want all for the same low site rates.

To say that this is probably the most unique RV Park in the universe is probably an understatement.
They have over 400 full hookups with 30 or 50 amp service
and several rally halls both large and small.
I think this will become a must attend event for all Texas Boomers
for the first time at this unnique park in the East Texas piney woods.

We will be posting more information and a sign up page here in early June. Mark this one on your calendar's folks.
Here is a video about the park for your information:

We have stayed there quiet a few years ago. It is a very basic place with utilities. We were the only ones in the campground.

Sounds like maybe it has changed some with new ownership since you were there Ken. At least the reviews on Google maps seem to reflect a great park now. Don't know how we have missed it over the years but it has the potential of being a good destination for future Boomers rallies. Looking forward to checking it out in July.

Don, in the video, it looks about the same, but it is still a good place to stay. It was clean and well kept. All of the buildings were closed when we were there. They used to cater to big bluegrass gatherings. It is about half way between Crockett and Palestine. We were through there year before last and not much in the way of shopping, so you need to be sure you have everything you need with you. Not a "local" Walmart for shopping.

Should be fun. Hope a lot of folks can make it to the Flamingle.

Absolutely! we love to have new folks attend our rallies and join up with the Boomers. Only requirement is that you attend a rally and introduce yourselves - no dues or fees just a bunch of folks camping together for food, fun, and fellowship - did I mention food? When you see the sign up post here on irv2, just follow the instructions to make your reservation with the park and reply to it that you will be attending. It's that simple. Look forward to meeting y'all. You are a stranger to the boomers but one time.

Update on Salmon Lake RV Camp, Grapeland, TX

Karl Davidson, The Brys and we just spent 3 days at the park
to check it out for the 4th of July Flamingle.

Words cannot describe this place.
It is absolutely awesome.
Very rustic, East Texas laid back atmosphere
and the manager is just a delightful person.

It is going to be fantastic for our 4th of July Flamingle.
We will have no limitation of sites so you

SHOULD REALLY PLAN TO MAKE THIS ONE.

We will be posting sign up information
just as soon as the Memorial Day Rally ends.
