I am completely overwhelmed with all of the posts, phone calls, emails, texts, flowers, visits.. each an expression of love and respect for Rusty during this time of his passing.
Whether you were family, friend, neighbor, church, colleague, or a forum member, you know he was a quiet man who preferred to be in the background, but he was also a man who would be at the forefront to help, support, guide, advise, lend a hand or shoulder to lean on when called upon. He touched our lives and left an imprint upon our hearts.
Just 1 1/2 months shy of our 50th anniversary, he was my husband, my shelter, my protector and my provider. He was the wind beneath my wings. He diligently set in place all that I would need when this day arrived. But, I covet your continued prayers in the days ahead as I step out on this new journey because he didn't tell me how to do it without him...
Many have asked about funeral arrangements and I need to share that his final wishes have been honored not to have a public funeral. He never wanted to be the center of attention. Thoughts and ideas are being considered for more private intimate celebrations of life and I'll share more details as they are formed.
In closing, allow me to share what I know Rusty would say personally on this day...
YOU touched my life immeasurably and YOUR imprint upon my heart was carried with me into eternity.
