I hate to tell you this, but that is a real old photo. The place is twice as big now as it was then.

It is an older photo, but it definitely shows the area that we'll be in. I prefer up front across from the "old" rally hall where theres a LITTLE more shade...not much, but a little"! They have expanded the Ranch all the way back and added another rally hall since this pic was taken.
But we're all in the area up front!
Sandy

I don't have any control over the satellites and when they take a picture, but the site link is good for assisting in planning trips. Yes, you can move the map around and zoom in and you can see where the constructions "was" going on.
I use it as an aid to see what my site may look like. If it had been in the construction part I would have just shrugged it off as the CG web site shows the map, but not a satellite view. It takes a lot of passes of a satellite to map the terrain. I'm happy with what I can get.
With that same site http://www.maps.live (they have merged with Bing), when you have your city you can type in anything in the Bling search window like "campground," "RV park," "restaurant," or whatever and little flags will pop up to show you where that item is. Unfortunately the information is harvested from the internet and is based on "Meta tags". (you can look that one up) Web sites will populate their web pages with Meta tags that have absolutely nothing to do with their site so they can get people to look at the site when searching for an item.
Again, I just use the internet as an aid to my RV'ing. (My wife seems to think I'm addicted - what does she know.)
Oh, and all pictures are old as soon after as you take them.

Wayne,
Don't feel bad - I took my lumps trying to provide directions to Miller Creek RV Park near Johnson City earlier this year. See HERE starting with post #57 and continuing ad infinitum. Some of the Texas Boomers are deathly afeared of gittin' lost - and in some cases, for good reason (notice I didn't name any names. )

I will admit to being one of those Boomers who is "deathly afeared of gittin' lost". It's only because I do it so often! I still remember Sandy (and others) laughing at me when I called in Boerne and said "I can see the campground but I can't get to it!!!" I now use Google Maps before I leave home and I have 2 GPS units.

Barbara - be careful. There was an old saying about a man with two watches never knowing the correct time. With two GPS units.....
Rusty, I had forgotten how much fun the Miller RV directions thread was. Thanks for posting the link and reminding me.
One more caution: using older satellite maps can be misleading. Due to global warming, the earth's crust is getting old and wrinkley. Since the satellites are in a geo-stationary orbit relative to the earth's core and the crust is shrinking, the old satellite pictures are of where the park used to be.

Directions state, "east side of hwy". Now we all know that east is always on the right side of the map if you're holding the map with north up. Please be advised, Im left handed and can easily get confused with N, S, E, and W. I just need to know if its on the Lousiana or New Mexico side of the hwy.

With my wife reading a map, North can be at the bottom and the GPS mounted upside down. She operates strictly by left-right-straight and turn around.

I am gonna pass this time on direction comments but I will say my new Garmin 5000 is a great unit. Pat will tell you it takes you right to the front door and opens it for you.

Sure took the frustration out of the last trip by not having to drive around strange towns looking for diesel. Took us right to the pump.
