TX class "B" renewal questions

I am not allowed to renew on line. What should I expect when I show up in person? Another driving test? Written test?

Maybe, and an eye test too. Are you having to upgrade your license? When I upgraded from a Class C to a Class A Exempt, I had to take both the written and drag the trailer all over Pflugerville in the rain. They even tried to make me take the written part about air brakes but I was able to get out of doing that. I went down there 3 or 4 times before I finally got it accomplished. I would go down in person and see what you need to do, it maybe just take the eye test, it seems like every office is different. I had a hard time getting them to understand I didn't want a CDL. Good Luck, George Speir

My last one was eye test, new mug shot, fork over $$$'s. In and out in about 30 min in Rosenburg

If you can, go to a mega center. You can get an appointment on-line and it will take less than an hour after you get there.

I too had to renew my DL this past spring. Walked into the Cleburne office to get it renewed. Took about 30 minutes and had to smile and fork over some cash. Easy.

My experience with the mega centers is very mixed. So I choose an outlying location to get my renewed DL's done. Much more relaxed.

You can’t renew by mail unless you already have the new compliant license. Had to renew mine a month or so ago, no biggie, just needed proof of citizenship of some form.

Definitely go to a mega center or you may stand outside (regardless of weather) in line for hours, sometimes as much as 4!
