1979 bethany tent trailer

I just brought home a 1979 bethany tent trailer. Can anyone give me some tips on the order to set this up properly? zippers are way hard to zip and velcro doesn't seem to reach. any advice would be awesome!
thanks!!!

I can't help with the order of set up but the unit may require zipper lubricant if it has been sitting up for a while. You can get it at and sports location and it's pretty cheap but it can save you a lot of aggravation.

Good luck and happy camping.

There's a good chance the canvas has shrunk over the years, making zippers and velcro locations out of alignment. I would suggest finding a canvas/tent repair shop that could possibly sew in material extensions.

We rented a Bethany in the '80s for a family trip to Colorado...had a blast

I used to own a. 79 Bethany and loved it. If I remember correctly, the zippers are only undone if you were to replace a section, not each time you set up. There are Velcro tabs over the zippers and around the underside of the beds. The canvas may have shrunk, which has been mentioned. I think I could help you with the order of setup if you need that.

I know this is old and you probably already worked this out, but... I have one of these. Make sure it's level before you set up the top. When there is any leaning it will not setup correctly. you can bend the supports and cause it to be difficult to setup later.

It helps if two people set it up. One can do it but causes stress on the supports that can cause the zippers and velcro strips to not fit correctly.
