AC changeout - how to repair roof?

I'm going to swap out the crappy swamp cooler on our teadrop for a 12-volt AC unit. The cooler has a 14.5" x 13" hole; the AC needs 14x14, so I'll end up with a half inch gap on one side. Any suggestions on how to repair structurally and ensure waterproofness?

Thanks -

Fortunately the “hole” in the roof is smaller than the “hole” in the A/C unit. The 14” dimension shouldn’t be an issue.

You may split the other 14” dimension on the 13” “hole”, or offset the unit to align one edge of the 14” dimension with on edge of the 13” dimension.
In the end, it’s all about alignment - no concerns about the differences as the u it to roof gasket will insure a water title seal.

Do the units typically come with gaskets with that much play to them, or is that something I will need to get/make?

Thanks -
