Are Craigslist PUPs all scams?

After responding to some 20 listings on Craigslist (all under $3000), most didn't respond, and the ones who did were scams. Is Craigslist not a good place to shop PUPs? Do I just need to raise my price point? Is there a more reputable way to locate used PUPs? I'm assuming dealers are going to be more expensive, so I want to buy private if possible. Thanks!

Yes. Most are scams. The same pic with the price listed diagonally. I assume you mean pop up campers. It’s a tough market right now as a lot of people bought them thinking they would go camping this season since a lot of things are closed.

People are definitely on the camping train, I don’t remember ever seeing so many pop ups on this last trip I got back from. People don’t want to fly and they all think they are campers.

I've had great luck in buying and selling on Craig's List. If the selling item sounds too good to be true, than I won't even bother checking further.

Good experience.

I had good experiences selling a pop up and cars on Craig's List. I have purchased and sold other things from time to time.

My daughter and son-in-law were looking for used popups recently. They are going for crazy prices this year, I assume since so many "entry level" campers are trying it out, and you can pull a pop up with most vehicles. Having said that, I've bought and sold items on Craig's list in the past without problems, but I'm sure there are scams out there. This might not be the best time to be looking for a used pop up though, unless you're willing to pay a little more.

Are Craigslist PUPs all scams?

You might get better luck with an RV specific website. Try rvtrader.com or rvusa.com or rvuniverse.com. Also try googling “popup for sale near (your city)”.

About half of all craigslist rv ads are spam.

Maybe, but the other half are some great deals. For most things I need to buy, I will check CL or Market Place first and many times will find the item for 1/3 new price.

YES! So many people. I went outside of Carson City last week near Virginia City and there were more people there in the boondocking spots than I have ever seen in my life. Took me 2 hours to find a spot where I could level, and feel comfy at.

It’s been said in papers that traveling by camper is now safer than air or train due to CV-19.
