Generator review for Predator 3500 watt ?

Looking at buying a Predator 3500 super quiet inverter generator and wanting to know what everyone thinks about them. Harbor Freight shows a sale for $799 right now. Thoughts?

Doesn't their site have lots of consumer ratings? Personally, with Honda and Yamaha wanting over a thousand bucks, I'd easily buy the HF one. Even if you had to replace it- you'd probably still be money ahead! You won't find anyone who has parts or will be willing to repair them- but you can change plugs and drain oil...maybe even clean the spark arrestor.

I've had mine for a little over 2 years now, no issues. I can't say I've used it much though as the hour meter only shows approx 160 hours, maybe half of which was camping.

Pros are that it's very quiet, starts quite easily in the summer/warmer months, delivers rated output and a little more.

Cons, can be somewhat difficult to start in freezing weather. Gets there using the electric starter, questionable as to whether you could start it with the cord below zero. No high altitude carb jet available, which for some folks means it will run fairly rich (I camp mostly between about 4,200 - 10000 feet)

I think mine is a great value. I also have a pair of champion 2000 watt inverter cubes, and consider the Predator to be somewhat higher quality overall. Again, I don't use mine much except for AC use as I have a large solar bank which takes care of most of my power needs.

Thanks for everyone’s comments. I am now the proud owner of a Predator 3200 Super Quiet inverter generator! Plan on using it this weekend for our first boondocking trip!

I'm sure you will enjoy it, I have the Predator 2000, have had it for 3 years with no issues, my brother in law has the 3500 and they have worked flawlessly. Sure beats the price of the Honda I was planning on buying, and they have great reviews! The extended warranty isn't a bad idea, they say you can bring it in before the warranty expires and they will change it out,all you would have to pay for is another warranty.

It’s all about the break in with small engines.

Had my pair of Honda EU2000i generators for close to 10 years and not one issue. They run when I need them to. I would not waste my money on the cheaper copies.
