You can check at the battery posts , once it's installed .
If you have a battery box ( plastic )on the trailer , measure it then check the dimensions of a Group 24 deep cycle and a Group 27. Buy the one that fits .
Here's some reading for you.

I forgot to mention , when you got to install the battery , if there are only black and white wires to attach to the battery , use extreme caution .
In the trailer RV world , black is not always a ground wire , as in automotive , there is a very good chance the black wire is the power wire .
So you'll have to trace both wires ; follow the white wire first , if the white wire goes to the trailer frame , you hook that wire to the battery - negative post .
The black wire , using your voltmeter , plug the trailer into your 15 amp supply and check for voltage , if you get a reading disconnect the 15 amp service then hook the wire to the positive + battery terminal.

You don't need a battery to check the converter voltage, you just need the cables that connect to it. Put a volt meter on the ends and see what it says.
If its higher then 13.5 volts, I'd replace it. Most don't need a battery connected.

I checked the voltage on the fuse as well which is for the lights and the stereo ( both have same fuse) and it is also measuring more than 40v.

40 VDC? Your converter is wasted. Time for a new one.

Your going to have to track down info on your converter/charger and replace it , normally these items have no serviceable parts.
I would expect that kind of " runaway voltage " has fried the radio too.
There is a good chance the trailer's , 120 volt distribution panel , 12 volt fuse panel and the converter are all one unit ; BUT ; until you have make and model info and a manual you won't know for sure.
