Mattress for my pop up

We recently purchased a 2016 Flagstaff Mac 176 Ltd. We just used it the past couple of days. It has become very obvious that we must replace the mattresses that came with this camper.

I know I can’t get a very thick mattress and still fold the top down. How thick of a mattress are you folks using? What specific mattresses seem to work well for all of you? For the record I am a big guy and mostly a side sleeper? If you folks are using thicker mattresses how do you store them while in transit?

My last popup had terrible mattresses. I simply used an inflatable mattress. Easy to inflate to a level that was comfortable for me, easy to deflate and store.

You need to go in the popup when it's down and measure your free space. Take into account the roof slope and any bedding that will be there when closed. All popup have diffrent space

You could always get one of the standard-thickness air mattresses to put under the normal mattress. If you have a partner you sleep with, you can also do two twins to alleviate weight imbalance/transference. This way you can deflate it/them flat for storage.

My first comment is my popup from Flagstaff had a heated mattresses. On cold nights, that was sweet.

I would concur that with the air mattress(es) under the factory mattress. I think you could easily get 1-2" of material under the mattress, much more than that, especially if you leave sheets and blankets in place, could be a problem.
