Water Heater Question

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding my water heater. It's the Atwood G6A-7. Manual pilot, 6 gallon. I can get the pilot to light, I leave the control knob on PILOT for about 30 seconds, and switch it to ON after seeing my temperature (which isn't atrociously high). The water heater kicks on, and the tank is heated appropriately. After it reaches temperature and cycles off, the pilot goes out and it needs to be lit again for the next cycle. Does anyone have a thought? I thought about replacing the pilot assembly, but I've read that the control box may be to blame.

Before anyone asks, the stoves both work fine as far as gas flow is concerned, as does the furnace. I have no reason to believe the gas line or connection is flawed, as I disconnected the line from the hot water heater and it flows fine from there. Kind of stumped.

The first thing to check, is the position of the pilot flame in relation to the thermocouple.
Your problem sounds like the thermocouple isnít staying hot enough to keep the pilot on.
Details on proper placement will be in the heater ownerís manual.
If you donít have the manual, itís available as a free PDF, at the manufacturerís web site.
