A friend just purchased a used 04 Endeavor 40 PRT in Houston. He is now in Port Aransas at Pioneer Campground. He has a Carefree awning. When he extended the awning it went out 4 ft then stopped. He had a local repair service out and between him and the repair service they have made 6 calls to Monaco to try to locate the Carefree control box but have not been able to locate it. Can any one help locate the control box or provide any other suggestions?
Thanks
Jack

piddler, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us. It is surprising to hear that Monaco cannot help locate this control box. The only thing I could think of is if the original awning were replaced but I don't think that is the case. Hopefully one of our members will see this and help out. We will spread the word; I have put a shortcut into the Monaco owners forum. Tell your friend to hang in there.

piddler..On my 05 Dip, there is an on/off switch and an awning in/out sitch just above the entry door in the overhead cabinet. I've never seen a control box or even know there is one, but it might be behind this panel where the switches are located.

Piddler, I have the same switches as Don has on my 06 cayman, it appears that everything is in the motor head, front arm of the awning. my manuel shows a relay module but that also appears to be in the motor housing. Hope this helps. awning is Carefree mod. QK13RAJZ.

Jack,
I am guessing you have a Carefree One Touch w/o the automatic sensor retract system.
In the URL above, about 6 pages down is an electrical schematic that shows the Power Control Module that I assume you are trying to locate. It is a momentary off control module designed to protect the motor, by preventing power being applied to the motor after full retraction or full extension . It is conceivable it did fail in the partial extension. It does not however show its location. You or your technician should be able to bias it out of the circuit and determine if it is the culprit by using this schematic. Tracing the wires and wire labels should lead you to its location. My suspicion it is a very small group of components, located inside the switch panel where the on/off key switch and extend/retract switchs are located, but I cannot confirm that.
Good Luck.

Jack,
I have a 04 Endeavor 40PST and the control module for the awning is located inside the housing where the fire extinguisher is located, just under the switches. You proably don't know this but on the bottom of the pod where the motor drive for the awning is located there are 2 studs that look similar to the head of a pop rivet only raised, you can apply 12 volts dc to those 2 studs and the awning will retract or extend depending the polarity to those studs, if it goes the wrong direction, reverse the connections!
Good Luck!
