12v issue : some guidance required

Hi guys,

So today I had a strange issue with my Mirada.
Absolutely no 12v dc power, even if plugged shore power, or motor running.

Batteries read fine.
13.65v at converter output (it could be the voltage from the batteries...), I will disconnect +lead and re-read next time it happens.

So I switched on/off Battery Cut-off multiple times, and voilą! It came back after a few tries.

What bugs me :
- I thought the converter and the batteries were working in parallel. So if one isnt working, the other should be fine. I am thinking they are in serie, because I only have 1 connection at the main 12v fuse box.

Am I thinking right ? Thanks!

Welcome to iRV2 .

Operation of 12 volt systems from the converter and/or batteries is dependent on where the converter ( or inverter , depending on your RV's equipment ) are wired together in relation to the battery disconnect relay .

With your problem appearing to be the relay ( internal contacts ) it's important to track it down so you can by-pass or replace it should this happen again.

EDIT : If you can add all your RV's information maybe a member can tell you exactly where to find the relay.

Hi,

So I investigated a bit more during lunch time.

So the Converter is feeding the Fuse Box, and there is a solenoid in series between both, and the battery is attached in parallel at the converter pole (solenoid). So when no DC power, the solenoid is switched OFF, so the battery is disconnected from the fuse box. Solenoids were replaced previously, makes me think someone wired it to the wrong pole. I will keep investigating.
