Has anyone heard of the problem of having purchased a new current year Motorhome which was put on a previous year's chassis. We expect this is not unusual..But in our case,we are now without the standard Transmission Grade Brake which is part of the 2005 W24 chassis...
Otherwise we love our 05 Newmar Mountain Aire, but can't help feeling cheated...we would appreciate opinions....

Motorhomes are typically a work in progress. Most mfgrs print the old "specifications subject to change". When we bought out 2004 Allegro Bus it was at the end of the model year so we got the beginning of the 2006 Freightliner chassis features. But still, the VIN number, which applies to the chassis - not the coach, showed it as a 2004.
If you had a 2004 leftover chassis I would expect that the VIN nbr would reflect that. However, you may have one of the first 2005 W24 chassis and it's possible that the new features didn't show up until after production was started.
You're in a tough position. On one hand the Newmar literature probably toiuts this feature. On the other hand they deny responsibility for any deviations or changes. I understand your position but I sure don't know if anything can be done about it.

paulmargde,Welcome to irv2
How would like to be a "Newmar Forum Member", its for free. Cruzer can input it for you.
As to year of chassis, my chassis was built AUG 02, coach built OCT 02 for a 03 model year. Newmar is now posting on Web site the 06 model year the end of last month. I'am sure they are useing up 05's for those 06's right now. Congrats on your new coach. "007"

I have shifted down to 2nd gear on 6% grades with a great amount of control. The manual process is just as effective as the TGB feature.

I have the same problem. I read in motorhome magazine that the w-24 came with a TGB.
I made the mistake of purchasing one and not checking if it had one or not. I now have a 2005 motorhome without TGB. I wished they would have informed the public that all 2005 w-24 do not have the TGB.
