Thanks for all the advice and various points of view, I'm going to try starting on the project today, will most likely not use the conduit but instead tuck the romex under the bottom edge of the siding and tack it along the back of the wall, this way I can remove it easily if necessary. It's not a terribly long run.

Well due to unrelated complications around here I finally completed the 30a power project and it is a beautiful thing.

Next up will be the much simpler PEX line water hookup.
