We're looking to purchase a 2001 MH with a 330 CAT. Driving it for 50 miles the oil pressure seemed to be low. We discovered the coach has Silver Leaf VMSpc hardware installed. DW called the company and they told us to download the latest software, buy a cable for our laptop; and BINGO it has all kinds of information that we don't understand, but are working on it.
I started the engine and let it idle for about 20 min. After the water temp. reach 190F the oil pressure showed 16 psi at 700 rpms. Then, 39.5 psi at 1500 rpms. We are going to get permission to take for a drive tomorrow to see where the oil pressure is at 60 mph.
I guess my question is, does anyone have a 330 CAT, around 2001 year that knows what the oil psi should be reading at that speed.

Larry, I'm not the expert you're looking for (unless you've got a Detroit). I ran 2 cycle Detroits for many years. I'm a recent Cat owner myself. However, from what I've been reading on this forum, I'd say your readings are spot on normal. I'm sure some of the other guys will let you know for sure shortly.

Those oil pressure readings are spot on for a warm engine. The age and condition of the motor oil and the viscosity of the oil can change the readings slightly but these are fine.

I don't know much about CAT diesels but I flew airplanes all my life, more than 50 years worth, both piston and turbine power, and I was always glad to see oil pressure-- ANY oil pressure, especially at night, over water, or in combat!
