8D Battery

Good morning all. My question is which is the best 8D battery to replace a 8D with?

Thanks in advance.

It depends...
Is it FLA or AGM?
Starting g or house?
Many FLA 8Ds are starting and not great for deep cycle
Does it have AH or CCA speced?
I'm not a big fan of 8Ds as they are HEAVY and expensive
If house a pair of 6V GCs are roughly equivalent to an 8D and very reasonably priced.
If you go AGM a pair of 6V GCs or 12V GP31s again roughly equivalent to an 8D
I have 3 East Penn 8D AGMs on my boat that have served me well for 8 seasons for both house & starting and still doing well. AGMs are capable of both starting and deep cycle very well unlike FLA. My plan is to replace each with a pair of AGM GP31s when the time comes.
Sams Club handles Duracell made by East Penn at attractive prices.

I agree with what's stated. If LA starting batt. You'll be hard pressed to beat Sam's for price and quality. If deep cycle they are expensive and harder to get. I see yours is a 2020 did it die already. One reason I don't see to buy the most expensive batteries is due to user error and other things that can happen, they all can be killed off just as easy. I know the AGM don't need watering but can damaged by albeit less likely overcharging.

I am not sure battery has totally died yet or how many times it could have been run down too low at dealer before I bought the coach. Still checking things out with the battery and thinking if I replace to get a Litium.

8D is just a size designation for a large 12v battery. All the usual 12v battery questions apply. Is it a house battery or chassis? Do you want flooded cell or AGM? Lead or Lithium? Are you looking for maximum years of use, lowest upfront cost, or somewhere in-between?

Granted, the available selection of size 8D batteries is somewhat limited, but there are some choices. Trojan makes a nice 8D AGM lead-acid battery. Battle Born makes an 8D lithium. Advance Auto, Napa, O'Reilly, etc can supply decent chassis batteries that are hybrids, useful in farm equipment & RVs as well as trucks.

Basically, if looking for a flooded cell lead-acid house battery, it's a commodity. Buy on the basis if lowest cost per amp-hour.

I replaced my 4 - 8D house batteries with Lifeline AGM. I have room for 6 if I feel the need.
