Make certain parking brake is set and engine running to ensure good voltage if it is a Power Gear system.

If yours is like ours, it has a slide topper (awning). That topper has a lock front and rear to prevent it from unrolling in the wind as you go down the road.

My bet is you're trying to run the slide out with that topper locked. If so, you will not be the first one that's forgotten to unlock it....

Thanks

OK, it's under a cover now, so I had to dig back into pictures that were taken when we bought it. This awning/topper is unique in that it not only functions as a topper, but it's able to be easily unrolled further to function as a window awning for the slide out windows. That's why it has the unusual arms....

If it looks like this one, it has locks front and rear that must be released before extending the slider.

I think it's a Carefree, but could easily be mistaken.

The locks mentioned above are an integral part of the awning shown in the link above. If you don't have that awning, you don't have the locks I'm talking about.

Have you had this slide open previously? Was it demonstrated when you took delivery of it?

If not, there could be locks on top of it, out of sight, on the inside. Run you hand front to rear to see if you can feel anything. Or maybe get a peek from the front while standing in back of the driver's seat?

Ours came with some locks to use up there, but we've never felt the need. Not sure if they were from HR, or from the wierdo who fancied himself as an engineer, that we got the coach from.
