AC Capacitor

Roof AC Unit.
Was working great then started to blow ambient air.
Replaced the capacitor and blew it.
Unit is an older replacement unit on an old Airstream trailer.
We are in the process of doing some cosmetic repairs and this happened.

Any ideas what to look for???
Thanks for your advice and time to reply.

If you shorted out a new capacitor (Provided it's the correct capacitor) then more than likely you have a seized compressor. I think it costs as much to have a compressor replaced as it does to purchase a complete new A/C

Ditto above. I'm not sure what Airstream used on their rigs, but today's a/c units are really considered disposable, unless you know someone who is an a/c tech that would replace a compressor cheaply. The labor, parts and time involved would quickly eat up any savings.
And usually with no guarantee that repairs will last.
These units are really about the same quality as window units and not designed to be repaired in a cost effective manner.

Used ones can be found as well.

Folks with 2 units and when one fails they sometimes replace both or in our case one died and we being cheap found a pair of units that came out of an upgrade.

The units were 13 KBTU and they upgraded to 15 KBTU so we got both for $400.00 and sold our old ones and one was still good.

This time of year many rv places may have stock in the way was winter is not ac season so you could get a good deal on a new one.

Craigs list works too.
