AC smells like electrical fire

07 Beaver Marquis when I turn on middle AC the smell like an electrical fire fills the coach. Both AC and heat pump. Don't think the AC mode is putting out anything but air. Anyone ever had experience with this?? Thanks in advance for any advise guys.

Safe travels all

Shut the power to the unit off at the breaker panel , and then you'll have to get up on the roof and pull the cover off to investigate ; that kind of smell can't be good.

Sounds like you may have blown a start capacitor. You should see pieces of it once you remove the AC cover.

X 2 on the capacitor but, in my case on the Carrier Air V, the only indication was what looked like, at some point, a little oil leaked out of it. Other than that, it looked fine. Sometimes it buldges out when it blowes but my didn't.. Anyway, that electrical smell is what I experienced, also. The blower will work on "Fan" but nothing else.

Careful, capacitors are nothing to mess with without reading up on the subject. They store a charge that will get your attention.

Had a similar electric smell turned out to be cheep China LED's in the ceiling pot lights only smelled when front air was on. The lights bulbs were slightly blackened My air ducts must leak to the G4 pot lights.
