Aerbus Motor issue

I have a ‘97 Rexhall Aerbus, F53 Ford Chassis. It has a 460 1996 engine in it. We blew the engine 2 weeks ago. My question is can I put an engine out of an F350 or F450 in it as a replacement. Can we use the transmission out of either or would I be better off rebuilding the transmission I already have? Any input would be appreciated.

The engine should be all the same, but I don't knw about the transmissions. Be careful that the other transmissions don't use a different computer. You might be better off rebuilding the old one and know what you have.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I'm not a mechanic so can't help with that.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

If you live in a state that requires smog testing and certification you may run into legal issues using a different engine/trans.
