A lot of the decision is what you desire. Some folks buy a 150psi pancake compressor so they may use it a t home too. Some, like me, buy a cheaper 12V 150 psi high-volume air compressor so they may use it anywhere they have access to a 12V battery. I like my 12V compressor for emergency use, however, if I had bought the 120VAC compressor I could use it for other tasks, like powering a brad nailer, etc., and I could add a moisture trap filter to keep moisture out of my tires. Moisture in the air in tires is the cause of temperature fluctuations when tires get hot from use.

Amazon.com: PORTER-CABLE CMB15 150 PSI 1.5 Gallon Oil-Free Fully Shrouded Compressor: Home Improvement
This has seemed like a popular style. Craftsman was first with this style and then Husky had this style and now porter Cable. I have had my Craftsman for around 7 years. It looks like the Porter Cable has picked up the same model only grey.

If you have large tires where you need 100 to 120 lbs of air get a 110 V models. . Tried the 12 V models and when filing larger tires they can take a long time. Had one literally burn itself up it got so hot. Sears had a unit that was very poplar and it was rated for 150 PSI. someone posted that model is no longer available. Their replacement only rated at 100 PSI. Northern Tools, Harbor freight, maybe tractor Supply usually have models in the hundred buck range that do the job nicely. Safe travels. ed

I carry both a small Home Depot "Husky" brand 110v compressor and a Black and Decker 200psi 12v compressor. Comes in handy at camp site to have both. Use 12v compressor to inflate towed or bicycle tires. Use 110v to inflate MH tires or to run an impact wrench or air wrench I carry.

Bob, just curious as to why you don't use the on-board compressor?

I also run so. The 120volt and a 12volt. The 150# in the MH and the 12volt in the towed. I did burn up a 12volt on an emergency MH fill under warranty so then go the bigger better for the big tires. Pawn shops are a good place o get the pancake compressor at $50-$60. Did add a air tool set in a nice case.

There was a guy a few camp sites away from us last year and he had a pancake compressor and it was so loud I was stunned. He had it running seemed forever to inflate a truck tire.
I am not sure what to buy. I wish I could take the big one from my garage, but it won't fit
I won't be buying one like he had ufta...

You may be right. I just assumed that most all MH's had built-in compressors.

I know the Diesels with air brakes do. I do have the air system that puts the toad brakes on but don't think that would be advisable.
