Air compressor for tire inflation.

Hi, I have currently a 150 PSI pancake compressor with a 6 gallon tank that I use to inflate the tires on the class A RV. It weighs quite a bit and takes up quite a bit of space. I was wondering if there’s anything else out there that is smaller that would inflate a class A RV tire. I am just looking to bring the tire up to the correct pressure.

Thanks,
Greg

Take a look at the VIAIR 450P-RV. It's expensive but is probably the best out there!

Also take a look at this one. It has a small footprint and only weighs 20lbs. I've been using it for a few years and it works great.

We bought a Harbor Freight pancake compressor in 1994 and are still using it to inflate our tires on our fiver. They're about $40.

First question is what psi do you need to achieve and how much air you think you might need to add while on the road. You probably aren't inflating a new tire from scratch, so might not ever add more than 5 or 10 psi. The max psi relates to the compressor psi rating and the incremental psi relates to how much air volume the compressor delivers (SCFM).

You can bicycle pumps that will do 150 psi, but they take forever if you need to add even a couple psi to a huge tire. Small "hot dog" or "pancake" style compressor that deliver 100 psi and 1-2 scfm aren't real big, but if you want to be able to do 120 psi and add 10 psi to a 295/80R22.5 tire, you will need something larger.

Viair 450 RV for me. My tires are larger then most so a heavy duty compressor is needed. My front and tag tires are 365/70, fronts take 125 and tags take 105. My drive tires are 315/80 and also take 105.

Viair 450P is a terrific compressor!
Pricey but you have a tool that does what you want and expect.

Make sure you get this exact one - the 100% duty cycle is important. They make similar ones without the 100% duty cycle.

We are new owners of 06 Revolution and will take delivery next week. There is an air chuck in the front left bay that I was planning on using to inflate the tires if needed. Will this work or do I need to invest in a portable compressor?

Take a look at this Video https://www.thervgeeks.com/maintenan...sure-rv-tires/ it will show you how to use the on board compressor to air up your tires. They also have a video on their site that shows using the Viair RV compressor. I have used both the biggest reason I like the Viair compressor is you don't have to run the motor to get air pressure if you are hooked up to shore power,

^^^ I agree. I find it's much easier and faster to use the 150psi compressor than to have the engine running and waiting for the compressor to cycle off and back on to keep the pressure up. Just my $0.02, others will obviously vary.
