Air conditions brings dust into motorhome

Hi, we have a 1990 Marathon Prevost.
When we turn on the coach air conditioning, it brings in dust out of the window vents. We get alot of fine dust settling on everything. Does anyone know a solution to our problem?

First would be check your air filter. Second would be a recommendation that you have a professional service clean out all the air ducting, and have your AC unit serviced.

34 years of accumulated dust in the duct work. Find a way to have the ducts cleaned.

I don't know if anybody here has a good understanding of what air conditioning system you have on this rig. Are the window vents just fresh air openings? or part of the AC system, or what? It sounds like the AC could be leaking pressurized air to the outside causing the dusty air to get sucked in somewhere else, but I don't know the whole story yet.

I'll take a stab: "bus air." Since it's a Marathon conversion my bet is a phone call to the mothership will clear the air (pun intended) as to which equipment package was originally installed, if Marathon has done any work to the coach, and maybe some specific advice for cleaning and service. If there is a really big compressor mounted to the right of the engine, and the AC stops when the engine is off, it's bus air. It was designed for cooling the roughly 50 passengers that might ride in a bus.

My guess is the filter and/or return duct has been compromised and outside air is being sucked in.

This can be potentially very damaging, as duct is often aluminum foil flex, and at 30_yrs age, probably extremely weak, if not already damaged? While ducted ceiling air maybe foam and foil, if you have any flex, TRY looking at anywhere you can to see if You could replace sections of flex aluminum tubing? Good Luck, let us know what you find?
