My Newmar came with a screen material that was glued to the inside of the fiberglass molded openings in the rear cap. This then leads to a large fiberglass plenum molded into the rear cap. The Tube that attaches to the air filter starts at the very bottom of the plenum (but it is inserted proud of the bottom of the plenum to eliminate water intrusion).
The screen was broken away due to accident damage. I used some solid thin wire ("mechanics wire"), wrapped that around a drill bit and inserted it into the screen holes. I applied adhesive (really body plastic but that's because I was doing much more repairs at the time) and pulled the screen towards the body to reapply it while the adhesive cured. The wire was draped over a small 2x4 and then a weight applied to the other end of the wire to put continual tension on it until the glue set.
Once dry, you just fish the drill bit out another of the holes and pull it out with the wire.
Same technique could apply to put a screen where there never was one.
