Another Kwikee Step Question

Have read many concerns & answers on these steps,
Havenít found answer to my problem yet..
Each time I get MH out of storage, steps wonít extend upon opening door. I have to remove motor, which is bound, I replace step motor, then steps work as they should during entire trip.
After putting back in storage, both battery switches are shut off. Then I usually reenter within a day or 2 to replace bedding ect. Steps continue working properly.
Then after a few more days, I go to enter, and steps wonít extend. So each time out, its release bound motor. I can do it in about 10 minutes, but still would like to eliminate problem. Thanks for any insight you all can give.

Have you checked the teeth on the underside of the step that the motor gear turns in? If one is broke/missing it will cause the bind.

The motor is "in a bind" every time the controller disconnects the ground. There is no on/off switch, the controller senses increased motor amp-draw and stops the motor as stated. Perhaps the Kwikee Service Training manual will help explain.
If you want to do some testing, watch the
Electric steps operate the same way as an automobile electric window, in fact a replacement motor is from a Ford model auto.

Thanks Ray,IN for your reply. I have previously viewed the video, and scanned the manual for a reference to the problem. I am sure it has to do with the amp draw when both the battery source switches are in off positions. As stated in .org. post it happens after a few of days in storage. Would this possibly be an indication of a loss of battery power to the step which would trigger the controller?

RLCASC, I don't think so; I've used the battery disconnect switch many times when our MH was stored in the garage, the steps have never acted oddly. When I activate the disconnect switch the steps never move except when I open/close the door.
When we bought this MH the steps were irratic, I polished the brass contacts on the door and jamb and they operated normally. When I removed them to inspect wiring connections, they were all clean and tight.
