Let me put this another way,
If you have a 400 HP Diesel engine operating at a given BMEP and you change to a lower heat value fuel, will the engine still produce 400HP?

Also consider the fact that liquid fuel tanks can have about any shape you want, but pressurized gas has to be carried in a cylinder. That would have caused the conversion on my Suburban to result in range going from 450 to 200 miles, so I didn't do it. Combine that with the limited availability of filling stations, and you better have a liquid system as well, and then where you gonna put those gas cylinders? How much are you gonna save and how many miles will it take to pay off the system? Who can work on this now unusual and complex system?
