Cool Atwood 10G Hot Water Heater Problem

We have a 2yr old Coachmen Freedom Express. Took it out this weekend and the hot water heater is acting up. It is Atwood 10Gal Electronic Ignition Propane tank. We can hear the pilot light come on...water coming out of the faucets is 'very' hot just for a few seconds...then turns to warm, then turns cold. Any ideas or suggestions as to what may be wrong? Thanks for your help!

If it is not the by-pass vavle, check the outside shower faucet. Make sure both the hot and cold are off, otherwise the facuet acts as a mixing valve for the water system.
