Atwood Electric Jacks - "Shout Out"

Good day fellow Motorhome Owners - I have read in depth posts about Atwood Electric Jacks
1. No Longer Supported - Cannot get controllers replaced or fixed.
2. Jacks have a tendency to break the shear pin.
3. Costly replacement- hydraulic (HWH or Big Foot) - $6K ~ $7K

Many manufactures from years 2005 ~ 2006 used these including Fleetwood and Newmar.

I know that there are many of these coaches with these Atwood jacks. I would like to hear back from "all" there experience with them - Good or Bad?
I have to imagine that some of these units work OK?

Regards

Yep, we've got 'em. So far, knock on wood, we had only 1 experience with a gear motor going bad that got replaced. Luckily, it decided to quit after they'd all gone to their UP position so it didn't impact travels. The only other issue was needing to recalibrate the auto-level after several years. Fingers crossed they continue to hold up until we're ready to move up to a DP in 3-4 years.

i have a rear jack issue and have taken jack off and ready to begin looking for problem. the manual 1/2 inch nut does not move the leg at all. what should i be looking for when i take the top off. Help. i have a 06 phaeton and may be time to replace the whole jack. do not really want to spend a lot of money at this time if i can repair a gear or a pin.

I haven't got into my jacks yet 2004 fleetwood flair but the jack itself is a simple 2 wire jack both can be hot ground through case. So I will bet you can find all parts by cross reference of # . Controller on the other hand differant story. I have to look closer to the new 5er auto level. Quick check says they are very close in design. I don't believe Atwood.

Hello RegDog105 - If you are talking about the "shaft" on the gears - what I have read on other posts is to use an appropriate size drill bit and a dremel tool to cut it off to the correct size.

Thanks for the PDF's. I have seen these. I have broken into my Jack found that the main shaft (runs thru gears) that drives the jack leg screws was broken. I cannot find a replacement shaft. The idea of a drill bit is interesting but I have been told that the material is too hard to drill holes into plus one end has to be tapered down.

I am hardheaded and I can get a new shaft thru a machine shop but it will be costly because this is such a small project and these guys are highly trained.

Not giving up yet.

I have one jack that appears seized, took the top off but the square tube itself has several indents that hold a plate in place.

unless those intends are drilled or cut out I cant get to shaft itself.

anyone have a schematic of the parts inside that?

Or anyone take it apart, I'm not paying $600 for a new if I can avoid it
