Atwood G6A-8E water heater valve - Is it bad?

I tried replying to an old thread I found through the search function but couldn’t because it was too old. Resurrecting this thread since this was the most accurate to what i could find using search function. 2003 Georgie Boy MH with Atwood G6A-8E. Last trip I noticed a slight propane smell when loading up. My hot water heater is directly above my city water/dump valves. When I opened the cover I could smell the propane coming from the exhaust. Hot water heater was not on. Once I came home I noticed that when the tank is on, I can smell a faint scent of propane coming from the exhaust. I took the orifice off first. It was clean. I then removed the brass piece it screws into and it was clean as well. Again when I turn the gas on I get a slight propane smell from the valve outlet. I’m assuming the valve is bad as it should only let propane come out of the valve to the orifice when the circuit board/switch calls for it?

To locate the leak, turn on the propane tank valve and spray a soapy water solution onto all the gas fittings and connections on the water heater. In your case, it sounds like the gas solenoid valve may be leaking through. A light spray of the soap onto the orifice will likely be where bubbles show up. The valve is fairly easy to find and replace.

LP System is only 0.39 psi (11"WC)

So if you smell propane when Water Heater is NOT on and just having the Propane valved in for service you have a leak
Either the propane line fitting to gas valve OR the valve is leaking thru

Being as the gas valve is 20+ yrs old.....suspect it is leaking thru
Especially when you can smell propane via the exhaust

Original Gas Valve (93844) NLA
Replaced by Atwood 92078 (Gas Valve) and mounting bracket (92080)
