Automatic steps

Hi, the automatic steps on my '11 Astoria have just started popping on full retraction and full extension. They pop 5 or 6times then stop and stay in the proper position. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a gear slipping teeth.

There are a few reasons that may cause popping. First, lubricate the moving parts, check for loose mounting screws/bolts, some have a cam like adjustment disk that the step settles on to lock it in place. It may need adjusted. The suggestion of broken teeth is a good one as well.

the step actuator is actually an automobile power window actuator. do a forum search for part numbers.
