Awning pull (my solution)

I have had two awning pull straps break on my RV. The replacements are not expensive and I've added a couple of spares to the junk drawer because when they break it can be a pain to come up with an improvised fix. Especially inconvenient for folks like me with a Class C that suddenly becomes stranded because of an extended awning.

My Geeky fix..

For anyone with a 3D printer, I have designed a replacement anchor that makes rethreading and restitching the strap a piece of cake.

Here's the object file:

Regular fix..

If you're not into 3D printing and have a class C, you might want to keep a store bought replacement on hand. Here a link, I'm sure you can get them at most any RV dealer.

I don't always use the pull straps. I usually will grab the outside upright at the edge of the awning and pull it away from the RV, it works better with two people. I do the opposite when retracting the awning.

Thanks for that tip. We'll keep it in mind if we're ever strapless again.

Trying to understand how a broken strap would leave someone "suddenly stranded because of an extended awning"?
BTW they are only $3.49 for pack of two (2) at Camping World online.

I had my awning pull strap break on me a few years ago. I didn't have an extra one with me so here was my solution. I used one of the awning hangers that typically are supplied with awning lights, lanterns, etc. and sewed it to the strap. After that I bought a package of extras.
