Hi all, I'm not a RV newbie, but new to motorhomes. I just installed 4 lifeline 6 volt AGM's. I have a Zantrax 458 inverter charger. The question is, can I leave the coach plugged into 120 all the time or will this do any harm or cause shortness of battery life. At the price of the lifelines I want them to last as long as possible. Thanks in advance

Have you set the charger to the AGM profile? Are you using a temperature sensor? If so, there should be no issues.

Another option would be to disconnect the batteries once fully charged, by using the House Disconnect switch. Then monitor voltage weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc until you’ve determined the rate of self discharge so you’ll know when to recharge the batteries. Make sure the inverter function is off.

Yes, your Xantrex inverter/charger must be properly programmed, then fine to leave it plugged in 24/7. The optional temp sensor is a good idea or you have to reprogram as seasons change.

Programming includes:

Battery technology (AGM). If so old a Xantrex that it doesn't offer AGM, wet cell is very close.

Battery bank size (in amp-hrs @ 12 VDC).

Temperature, assuming no optional temp sensor connected to battery.

I have it programmed for AGM and there is a temp sensor. Am I good to go?

The Zantrax 458 should be good for lifeline AGM batteries provided the menu controls are set correctly. Leaving the RV plugged into shore power during storage is a good method.

The owner's manual says; "**Battery type selection is set on the front of the unit or with an optional remote (Remote Control Panel or Link Instrument)"

That said, Lifeline AGM batteries have specific requirements that tend to be a little different from typical AGM batteries. Check with the Lifeline manufacturer or manuals for specifics. Lifeline may provide expert advice for you.
