Battery Dead while plugged in to 110V
When plugged in to 110V the lights dimmed and the battery showed near dead on the indicator panel. I tested the converter and all seemed OK. I then charged the batteries with my charger and all seems well. Why would this happen? Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Gary

What coach? Did you measure your battery voltage when plugged in to 120 VAC? How do you know your converter is good? Sounds like the battery is disconnected from the converter either by a STORE/USE switch/relay or by a large DC circuit breaker.

If the lights slowly dimmed, the battery switch was not in store position. It was the only thing powering the lights.
If the converter was working, the lights would not have dimmed. You don't need the battery when the converter is working.
Look for a tripped 120 volt breaker marked converter, a tripped GFCI outlet, supplying the converter outlet or a fuse in the 12 volt side of the main panel.
Some converters also have reverse polarity fuses in them. Did you hook the battery cables up wrong, even for a moment ?

To build on what Twinboat posted, test the converter again but this time with the batteries disconnected other wise you'll be reading the battery voltage feeding back to the output terminals of the converter.
A quick test with shore power connected or the generator running is to just trip the house battery disconnect. If the lights go out the converter is offline.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Sounds like a problem with the converter or the indicator panel! Keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Battery Dead while plugged in to 110V
You might have a charging cable that came loose from the house batteries. Check your cables to the batteries, then check your fuses. Check for loose wires in places you normally wouldn't think of. They hide cables everywhere in these RVs now day and age. Another person also had this problem. I was working on their rig. The charging cable had never been connected. So hooked up their cable, problem solved. 9 times out of 10 it's just a loose connection or a disconnected cable.

Battery Dead while plugged in to 110V
So glad we could help. In my experience a loose connection is the number 1 reason house battery stop charging or fail to charge. If you have a generator it's really important to make sure all the connection are tight and secure since a generator charges batteries at high amperage output.
