Best states to store RV over winter

I'm walking out the door to pick up my "new to me" 2007 dynamax E230 and storing it for 2 months in Fl. My plan is to drive the US for 4 months then stir it at whatever Air Force Base that has RV lot. Weather wise, in your opinion. What state with be best for the coach? More than likely it will be unsheltered in a lot with a cloth cover.

My thought is for winter storage you want a place were it does not normally freeze, this is in addition to the normal freeze precautions, draining lines, etc. I suspect this would limit your choices to south Texas, southern California and south Florida. Depending on when your storage season starts I might remove Florida from the list if you will be putting it into storage before hurricane season ends (Dec 1).

So far we have "parked" our unit for 3 months at time twice. Once in Florida and currently in Arizona. Both places were covered or indoor storage. I don't want hassle of winterizing and de winterizing all the time. Or plan is to park it where ever our trips (3month trips) end but always in non freezing locals.

Florida is humid and your rig will have dew on it every morning. Then it will bake in the sun and damage the tires. If it is covered, than mold will grow and stick to your exterior. Moisture will seep into basement doors and the frame will begin to rust especially near ocean spray. .... Can you tell how much I like Florida !

Arid SW climate is best for your hardware. Happy Travels ...

Plan is it leave Florida in about 6 weeks when my classes get out then head north then west. Maybe Utah or Arizona.

Covered storage is always best as the sun is enemy number one when it comes to fading everything. Freezing and snow is bad too. All the airplane boneyards seem to be in Arizona and New Mexico so Im guessing this is good climate for storing things. Just a guess though.

What's a really good point, I didn't think of that.

Those areas may be great for airplane bone yards, but the heat and sun do have a negative effect on finish and fabrics.

Winterizing is not a big deal. I'd sanitize when I went back to the unit anyway. That will clean out any residual antifreeze if you end up doing it.
