There have been some good discussions on this forum about the Blue Ox TruCenter. There were some failures of the earlier models of the TruCenter, but it was thought to be solved when Blue Ox changed some of the electronics. A forum friend of mine installed one and highly recommended the newer version, so I bit the bullet and installed one. It initially worked as advertised and helped me a great deal when driving in heavy winds. As the months rolled by, I noticed that the surface of the TruCenter developed pitting and had begun to rust, despite the fact that I live in an area where we were experiencing a drought. Then, the wheel trim started working only intermittently. Blue Ox was kind enough to replace the entire system under warranty at no cost.
Last summer, the wheel trim started acting up again, working only intermittently. I put up with it since the TruCenter was no longer under warranty. I did some more forum research and came across
THIS discussion, where some members were experiencing repeated failures.
Last month my TruCenter trim stopped working altogether. I contacted Blue Ox, knowing full well that I was no longer under warranty. The rep. I spoke to denied any issues with their product. He said Blue Ox would inspect and repair my TruCenter, but I would be responsible for the repair bill as well as the freight. As I said, it's no longer under warranty so I didn’t expect a free ride but I was hoping for some good will.
I hate throwing good money after bad, so I am going to deny their repair offer. It will cost me a lot more money, but I am probably going to replace my TruCenter with the Safe-T-Plus coupled to the SuperSteer Trim Unit. It seems to be much more reliable.
Just my experience, I hope others with working TruCenter's have had better luck.
