Check for 12v at the brake switch on the brake pedal or master cylinder. If you find power when the pedal is pushed, then check ground connections at the lights in back.

I had a brake switch go bad in a car once with the same result you are experiencing. The switch was located near the brake pedal arm under the dash. To remove the switch you have to turn it first then pull out of mount. I found one at a local auto store. Good luck
