Broken awning shaft?

It appears that one end of the shaft that runs thru the roller on my MH has broken. I'm "guessing" that this is the correct term - it is the shaft that runs thru the roller that the awning fabric attaches to. When I unrolled the awning, aluminum parts fell out - and they appear to be the part of the shaft that attaches to the outside bracket of the awning.
My question, is the smartest approach to get this fixed is to take it to Camper World (God forbid) and have them fix it for a good sum of money or...try to figure out fixing it myself.
It was hard to roll open and I had to be very careful rolling it back up after our last trip.
Tips, suggestions etc are appreciated!
Thanks!
Don

Manuals and parts list are online. It is not rocket science to repair. There are lots of posts on this forum. Be carefull of the springs they can hurt you!
Good luck with your repairs and Welcome to the best forum on the web.

Sounds like the spring broke, not an uncommon occurrence. It's not all the difficult to replace yourself if you're a bit handy. I replaced one of mine a few years back for around $80 bucks.

Sounds like a spring to me too. Not a bad do it yourself project. You will very likely need a second set of hands though. If you're a little shy of the project, a mobile tech may work out for you?
