Has any one ever camped near a ski area in Colorado about Christmas time? I've been slightly considering doing this for a mini ski vacation, maybe 3 nights.
The more I think about it, the less likely, I will do this. But it would still be interesting to hear about other peoples ski or VERY cold (maybe - 10 degrees) trips and if they had serious problems or not.

Hi max49,
I think if you do a search on cold weather camping you might find some answers. I recall reading some posts like this in the past.

We camp at the ski areas all the time. I think you will realize that it offers a better experence than the lodge. We stay at an RV park then leave at 6am for the main parking lot to get the best spot. Kids are still sleeping and we make breakfast hillside. Generally, they will have an area for buses and RVs. We pay for 1 or 2 parking spaces depending on the lot attendant (for preferred parking). It is a very short walk to the lifts and we grill and chill in the lot between runs or to just take a break.
At the nearby RV park you have to fill and dump your tanks daily (depending on use) since it is too cold for hook ups other than electricity and cable TV. Drive slowly. I think that our Class A handles very well on the snow but you can not be in a rush. Once you are in the lot you will be the envy of all who pass by. I can not tell you how many people wish they could travel with an RV at a ski resort. All your gear is right there and you do not have to buy a $20 hamburger in the lodge. Happy camping!
