Can I use two Inverter control panels.

Greetings:
I have a 2000 Safari Trek model 2830 with a 1000 258 Xantrex Inverter charger. There is a "Safari Freedom inverter charger remote control panel" on the wall to the left of the kitchen sink. It works fine however I've added a "Xantrex control panel" which offers some goodies that are quite desirable. The Safari panel does some things the Xantrex can't do and the Xantrex does some things the Safari can't do. I have explored the possibility of modifying either control panel and the inverter but had little luck. To change from one to the other one has to remove the Xantrex (six screws) and change the 6 conductor telephone type cable from one control panel to the other. Itsa pain. So I bought an telephone AB switch box that uses six conductor telephone cables and wired the two control panels to it..My idea was to be able to switch from one control panel to the other control panel by just flipping a switch.. The result was to destroy the Xantrex control panel and also fried the circuit board in the Inverter. It didn't even smoke! The Safari Freedom remote panel survived. The supplier of the switch box indicated that the switch wasn't able to handle the current. He didn't know of a switch that could do the job. So I'm back to ground zero minus $300.00.
Does any one know of a switch that can do the job?
Are we having fun? Yep!

There shouldn't be much current flowing in that phone cable, at least for the Xantrex side. It's just digital signals. Maybe the Safari panel has some power and it backfed into the Xantrex? Without knowing more about the switch itself, its hard to guess why it popped.

Sorry - I don't know a source for a switch like that.
