Cancelling extended warranties
i know that some of you have cancelled extended warranties...
how long did it take for you to get your payment?
it has been about 6 weeks for us...
the finance manager was so nice when we hand delivered our documents...
now nothing...

The one I cancelled took several weeks to get the official statement abut how much money I was getting back and 3-4 months to get the check.
If you are working through an RV dealer and not direct with the warranty company, you are at their mercy. If this is a very early termination, they are probably going to lose their commission on the warranty sale so not anxious to help you out.

I cancelled my warranty that was purchased from Camping World. I called the store I purchased from and spoke to a Salesman and he emailed me the forms the same day. I filled them out scanned them and emailed them back. 2 weeks later I called to verify he received them and turned them in, which he had, and the next day the check showed up in the mail. Easy Peasy.

Figure 3 to 6 months to get your money. Nobody is going to be in a hurry to give you YOUR money back.

It does seem to be a rather convoluted process. I turned my cancellation request in at the dealer today and was told it would be middle of July at the earliest as the plan Administrator only processes cancellations once a month, around the 10th. Once they do the monthly process they send any refunds to the various service contract providers, who then have the responsibility to cut the refund check to the owner. We'll see how it goes.....

Why buy an extended warranty in the first place? The odds are in their favor or they would not offer it..

Had one on the wife's car. Canceled and had the check within the week. I was shocked at how fast it was.

If you financed your rig and paid the warranty premium with the sales contract, the refund will go to the financial institution and not returned to you. It will be credited to your balance and not even count as a advance on your payments.

Save your money and don't get these things in the first place. Read an article recently where the author said about 15% of total premiums goes for actual repairs.
Even if that is off by 100%, not very good odds for the average person.
Now I know we will hear from all of those who came out ahead and that is fine. But isn't it strange we never hear from those who never collect anything, get their claims denied and/or have to settle for only partial payments?
Think of it. It is impossible for the average person to get more in recoveries than premiums paid. By a long shot after sales commissions and overhead. Because you would be filing your reimbursement claim with the bankruptcy court, that's why.
