Cap repair
Has anyone had to have their cap repaired? 2005 40’DP Mandalay windshield popped out and had to be put back in, repair man said the cap had shifted. Insurance won’t fix if it happens again until cap has been checked. Is this a really expensive project and does it really stay repaired or just a never ending problem? TIA

Inspection is the first step. Search for an RV body repair shop in N.C. to have that performed. Any repairs depend on the results of that inspection.
Does your fiberglass front cap display obvious signs of cracking or splitting? If not, what makes "the repair man" think the front cap is damaged or shifted? If the repair man suggests a place to have it inspected, I'd be wary of a flim-flam.

What brand is the Mandalay? I think I'd call them and relay the glass repairmans concern about the shifting problem with the front cap.

I just had this done. Rolled slowly through a canyon-sized pothole, the coach rocked violently, and the windshield popped out of its gasket from momentary cap distortion. To properly reinstall it, stress cracks at all four corners of the opening had to be repaired and strengthened beyond original strength. In my case the windshield broke coming out and had to be replaced. The bill was almost $9,000 including painting the repair areas. But I can feel/sense/whatever a positive difference in cap stiffness while driving.
I'm suing Safeco Insurance for refusal to honor the claim on the grounds that the case was "wear and tear."

It has popped out twice and both window guys(different companies, different states) said it needed repair. If you know of a body shop in NC that does this type of repair I would appreciate the information

Concerning your Prevost problem, if you want me , my wife our 3 small kids and our 3 dogs. We would be glad to stay in your Motorhome while you are away and make sure nothing happens to it and the motorcycle. When you come back we would go to a hotel and stay until you leave, then come back and take care of the RV for you. I could keep it washed and clean on the outside no problems with the dogs the are all house broken….Just give us the address and we will meet you there,,,,looking forward to meeting you…….

Both shops that specialize in repairing fiberglass Corvette's or boats would be a good beginning point. Also you might ask a major MH dealership where they have fiberglass caps repaired.
