Carefree of Colorado Slide Out Awning Unfurled
After a hefty thunderstorm last night I came out to my Monaco coach to find the living slide out awning draped over the windows. The slide outs are NOT out so I am a little perplexed. There doesn't appear to be any tension on the roller which has maybe two wraps of awning still on it. Is it possible the tension spring broke allowing the awning to unfurl? Has anyone heard of the tension spring just breaking? Has anyone had this happen?
I just came back from a trip. This could have been real bad if it happened on the highway.
Thanks

Yes, springs do break.
RV Awnings & Slide Toppers From Stone Vos
Contact these people. They are experts on these awnings and may have parts too. They are sponsors on this site and just nice folks too.

Thanks for the info. I found the model in the coach documents. It's an Omega II so the spring is on the left side. Ordered one from McGeorge's RV in Ashland, VA. Now all I need is the number of turns for proper spring tension. Still searching the web for that data.

The spring just broke in one of my slideout awnings. I ordered a replacement spring from Stone Vos!

Mine is the Omega I and Chris at Stone Vos (where I bought the spring) recommends 16 turns.

Thanks for the reply. The Spring was broken when I removed the end cap. I ordered a replacement from McGeorges RV in Ashland, VA instructions came with the part....awesome. Very easy to install but a lot easier with someone on the other end of this 12 foot slide out. Frank
