Cargo latches

The latches broke on several of the under storage cargo units on 2005 Fleetwood Storm. Are they hard to replace and where can we find them in the Sacramento area?

Not sure if they are the same as my Pace Arrow, but the only place I could find them was at a Fleetwood Dealer. In my case when one broke last year I went to the local dealer and they had them in stock, apparently these break quite easily so the keep them on hand. It is a pretty cheap latch, the catch itself is just plastic the rest is metal. Go figure...

I'd like to know what breaks on them? I've had no problems so far on my '05 Bounder. I lube and clean the locks and latches about once a year but if I knew what broke I could pay particular attention to that area.

If you have several broken 'ears', then someone is slamming the doors shut. The secret to keeping them working, besides a little lubrication is to close them gently. When they are being closed, place your shin against the bottom edge of the door and raise the handle slightly. When opening a door doing the reverse will take the strain off the 'ears'. Fleetwood has replacement latches.

Just curious, my cargo doors are full of foam insulation, so how do you remove the latch without destroying the foam?

97 SOUTHWIND, The cargo latch is installed from the inside. The only thing that protrudes through the door is the latch ear.........

Yes, ther is a inside cover for the outside handle. It has four screws, once removed all you see is the door full of styrafoam and a rod going to each latch........
