The FEAR/ RISK is bad battery will put out EXPLOSIVE HYDROGEN GAS, and sudden load/ internal spark can cause explosion; rare but seen it happen as the mech stood over battery to read voltage w/ someone else hit START :-(

Soooo, I dove into it and, sure enough, my manual states to connect my BTS, to a NEGATIVE battery post. Whew, I thought all this time I'd goofed up and had it wrong. Wonder why the difference between the way the two Inverter makers want the BTS?

My old Xantrex RS2000 owners manual says to install the temp. sensor on a negative post, under all cables so it's touching the battery. When I bought the MH the sensor was on a positive post.

If you have the salesman switch (battery disconnect) off, the batteries will not charge. Make sure it is in the "Use" position. (If like mine)

I have a disconnect switch for both house and chassis batteries. I don't have a Salesman switch.

If you have an inverter/charger your batteries WILL charge with the battery disconnect off. Inverter/chargers are connected directly to the batteries, not thru the battery disconnect.
If you have a converter/charger ( no 120 volt making capabilities ), then in most cases you need the battery disconnect ON for charging with shore power.

Sorry, guys, last two posts confused the hell out of me. What's a salesman switch? On the control panel inside that shows levels, it has I think AUX and MAIN Battery and Inverter ON/OFF.
Please let me know if any of this needs to be on to charge on generator/shore power.
Thank you!!!

Short answer: What some people call the house battery connect/disconnect switch.
Long answer: If you have a spare hour... https://www.irv2.com/forums/f84/sorr...ch-499170.html

If it would just be called what it is, a disconnect switch their would be no confusion. Most of the oldtimers call it a Salesman switch.
