I have a solar panel on roof of coach on all three of my Newmars never had a dead chassis battery but its for one battery and you may have two, why don't you add another or a larger solar panel.

I installed Xantrex Echo-Charge last year. It charges the chassis batteries from the house batteries when they are above 13 volts using a farily sophisticated algorithm to control the rate of charge, etc. Haven't had to think about the chassis batteries again other than to check the water level a couple times a year. Go here for more information and full documentation.

After having gone through this thread a few times, what I seem to be able to conclude is:

1. My 07 Dutch Star probably has the bi-directional relay on the converter to charge the chassis batteries after the house batteries are fully charged.

2. If I store outside, the solar panel will keep the chassis batteries "topped off" given there is sun and water level is correct. The solar panel will do nothing for the house batteries.

3. If I store inside or outside and plug in, the chassis batteries will be maintained.

Question:
How do I determine if there is a bi-directional relay?

If I do have one, the read outs on the panel in the coach only seem to pertain to the house batteries, as it only indicates going through the stages to float charging.
