Cheap Kwikee 676061 Lippert 1101428 step motor

Found this looking for a cheap replacement motor. Paid $36.99, they're $32.99 now. Last one I bought was closer to a hundred. It says gear repair kit, I emailed and he said it was a motor and 3 screws. Fit perfectly, steps working like new.

One bolt was too tight against the plastic to get a socket on it but it's also stamped for 5mm allen wrench, that was just a trip to the tool box.

quote "seller does not accept returns". This means it is drop-shipped directly from China and is not a Kwikee brand part.

Nope, it was mailed from California. Took 9 days to get to MI but it was in a derailment according to the tracking. Never knew USPS shipped by rail.

I'd say it was from the same factory as the high priced Kwikee. Last one of those I bought had a loose brush floating around the box. I was hoping like crazy it also had brushes in the motor and it wasn't an assemble it yourself kit. This one also had a loose brush in the box. Don't know why but that's a lot of coincidence to me.

But if you want to pay $70 more for a genuine Kwikee sticker there are lots of places that will gladly sell you a $100 cheap Chinese motor.

Kwikee uses a mid 90's Ford power window motor for the stairs. Much cheaper to source a power window motor from auto parts than directly from Kwikee

Ford Taurus window motor off rock auto. Look up ACI 83094. This worked wonderful and was less expensive. Look at the pictures and find the model with the larger motor. I bought the kwikee replacement motor and it didn't have the juevos to raise the step and the motor shell was much smaller. The part I got on rock auto was 1/3 the kwikee price and works like the original. Had to swap the gear, but that is only change. I may buy another to carry with....

Kwikee has used a lot of different motors over the years, I think it was one way to stay ahead of the customers when they discovered a motor that would work for a third of the inflated price they charged. They even changed their control boards from normally closed to normally open, and repair parts weren't available for the old system so the control board and switch had to be replaced if there was a problem.

Look carefully if you can't get the correct Kwikee or Lippert number when buying. A lot of them look similar.

I have gotten normal elec tools, drills etc that had a spare set of brushes in box and usually no mention, of course if you wear them out to replace !

but then who knows, a couple of made in detroit vehicles i had had screws, rivets and attachment thingies under carpet, was it for same reason ????? OR from slap happy line workers ??
