Cheapest amount to spend?

What is the cheaps amount you would spend on a 1987 mh with less than 30k miles?

The cheaps amount I would pay is zero.. As for the mostest I would pay, I would want to know the make and model, plus options.

Need more info such as make and model. Less than a 1,000 miles per year average means it has sat a lot which is never good. How old are the tires and I suspect they need replacing. I once gave $5k for a 30 year old mh and it was about $4,900 too much.

I paid 500 for my 91....including tires I'd estimate I spent 3000 so far, the water heater was the biggest single expense, all the labor is mine as I do this stuff as a trade but she's ready to go just about anywhere, any time.

I've looked and talked and read and in my opinion it seems 5000 is minimum to expect to be in one of these older units for less routine maintenace, pay 500 and do 4500 in repairs, pay 5000 and have a basic unit you can use out of the box, all assumes no water leaks, once those are put into the mix it gets exponentially more expensive.

If you take the time and post some things like...
Make
Model
Options
Chassis
Motor
Upgrades
Condition inside and out
Pictures (as many as you can)

I think you will find that most people will give their honest and knowledgeable opinions

Good Luck

An old RV in working condition is worth about $3000-$5000, depending on condition. Deduct more for any obvious things that need repairs.

As others have noted, old and seldom used Rvs are often a potential money-pit. Tires often need replacing (aged, even if tread is still good), genset engine won't run or genset doesn't produce power, belts & hoses deteriorated, etc.

Like the others have said be wary, I just bought a 2002 motorhome last month for a bit over $20,000, after passing on ones of the same model and floorplan from 1998 priced at $15,000, and 1995 priced at $6,000. Both the 2002 and the '98 were well maintained, and updated, just in different ways, the '95 was a money pit, generator did not run, signs of leaks, tires were old, ... There were also some chassis / engine improvements introduced in 2001 that made the 2002 a more attractive choice as well as much more contemporary color scheme.

if your main concern is cheapest, take up needlepoint.......you certainly do not want to get into the rv world as it is never cheap........especially with an old coach....there is always something that needs fixed, tweeked, improved, etc........................
