Clear Film Coating Removal on RV
I have some clear plastic coating on the front cap, hood, and sides of my rv. There is some staining under the plastic that is getting worse so I want to remove it. I got a quote for removal of several hundred dollars which I found reasonable. The business owner said the possibility of damaging the paint on the coach cap exists but he can repaint like new. I an figuring worst case $500.00 - 1000.00. The coach is 2 years old.
Has anyone had this stuff removed? Does the price seem reasonable? I am leery of doing this myself and I have no way to get at the front cap. Any advice on having this repair would be appreciated.

Lots of posts on this subject. Use search.
Yes, it is removable with a lot of tedious labor.
There are some products specifically made to assist.
there are companies that specialize in it's removal.

Yes, the price seems reasonable. Yes, it might damage the paint so it's a trade off.
The appearance will only get worse.
I had a 3M film on the front of my coach that deteriorated to a point that I had to do something. I ended up doing it myself but it was a fairly small job compared to what you described. It took me about 4 days, not an easy job. I had minimal paint damage, nothing bad enough I need to fix.

I removed it from our coach. It was tedious, but not overly difficult. I used a steamer for the film and Xylene for the glue residue.

There is a video on you tube of a company in Florida showing how to do it, and sells the material to do it yourself. I think they call it ugly shield removal or some thing like that.

Charles, go to the green search box in the upper right that says "Powered by Google", type in "Diamond shield removal". You'll get all the info you need!
