Clearcoat peeling solutions?
On my 2003 Fleetwood Revolution the clearcoat is peeling off in a few areas.
I wanted to try some type of repair before it gets any worse. Perhaps power wash off the defective areas and a light sanding before applying another clear coat over the area. Ive seen a product called Spray Max 2K Clear Glamour (368-0061). You invert the can to mix the 2 part paint.
Anybody have much success with this?
I've also considered having a shop apply a clear vinyl "Wrap" type material. And they can also spray on a clear vinyl wrap product.
Anyone tried this type of remedy?

The problem is the exposed color is oxidized and won’t look the same when new clear coat is added. You need to go to an auto paint store and have the color matched- I found one that made ‘rattle cans’ for me. I sanded the entire area to be repaired, which was everything from the roof joint with the sidewalls up, masked the entire coach, sprayed the color, then finished with a good quality clear coat. Not a perfect job, but looks great from 10 ft away. People comment often how good my 17 year old coach looks.

Spray max 2K works well but you need to put on a new base coat first.
How do you like your Revolution. Have you had it long?

The live edge of the broken clear will be tough to hold,,, yes a rattle can in base color , and then a 2 component rattle can clear is best option.. It will Bandaid until the next spot starts,, It can last months or years,, depends..

The only PERMANENT solution is to sand, repaint and spray a new clear coat.

The clearcoat on our 2002 Fleetwood AC is just now starting to let go in a few places. I know this isn’t permanent, but I just pressure washed the areas to remove the lifting edges and sprayed with Duplicolor clear rattle can and on the light off-white colored areas unless you know exactly where to look it is impossible to tell where I touched it up unless you get the reflection just right. On a couple small dark striped areas that the clear had been missing a while, they had faded and you can tell. I want to try the clear mentioned above that has the hardener. That undoubtedly would be the best rattle can temporarily fix. Ultimately you’re just putting off a paint job though.
Be aware that a wrap will only last about 5 years.

I really like the Revolution. I have owned it for 15 years. Very few minor problems over the years. The paint issue is probably the worst failure that I have experienced. It's been stored outside and in the New Mexico sun which undoubtedly contributed to the clear peeling.

Thank you for your suggestions and insight. It appears no one has tried a clear wrap or the spray on vinyl wrap process.
I'll post some results when I proceed with a repair. Not sure yet how I want to handle it.

Great coach. We sold ours after 18 trouble free years. We repaired pealing areas with spray max 2K but it was lots of work.

Most of the labor is sanding the old clear down and getting to a paintable base.
If you are going that far, then you might as well shoot color / clear and make it good as new instead of a "workaround". It all depends on how important looks and longevity and affect on resale is to you.
My prediction is it won't look acceptable to most with either method you are considering.

Has anyone had the clear coat peeling repaired and at what cost ??? Mine is in need of redoing..... I asked a guy at a booth at the Tampa RV show and he said figure $10K !
While at Motorcoach Country Club in Indio a few months ago I saw a crew sanding down a coach and doing a repaint and clear coat on it ( out side !!!) . I asked about cost and they said $3500. I have an appointment on a couple weeks to get an estimate heer in Florida at a RV body shop .... I'll see what happens.

Where is the clearcoat peeling?
It cost me $3,000 to have the roof arches painted on my 2005 Newmar MADP.

The roof radius ( arches) is where it's peeling..... sad, as I keep it inside when not being used and it's waxed at least 2x a year since new.

The paint the OP mentioned in post #1 will work for the roof radius. Much better results there than trying to repair and blend an area on a large panel.
Same goes for getting that area professionally done. Much easier job for them. The awning channel makes an easy stopping point.
